Welcome to the United Methodist Church of Middletown, NJ!
We are a worshiping community, building disciples of Jesus Christ by connecting, growing, and sharing.
Jesus taught love. Jesus lived love. Jesus died love. Jesus rose again love. Jesus' teachings and life give for us a moral example of love that we as His followers should attempt to live up to. His death and Resurrection give us the ultimate example of love. By this example of love we know how we are to love. Love was defined at the cross! At the cross, Jesus shows us how to live and how to love! This Sunday at 10 am we will be exploring this wonderful truth of the example of love set for us. I look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday. Peace and God's blessings.

Readers Needed
We are in need of people to read the call to worship and Scripture readings during our worship celebration. Whether you are joining the worship celebration in person, via the live stream, or the conference call, we would like you to help with a reading. You can pre-record yourself with the reading and then submit the video to the church office. Anyone interested in reading please contact Joe Spinelli directly or reach out to the church office.
Gleanings Sales
Grocery store gift cards will be available for purchase through the Gleanings Program on Sunday, before and after the church service in the narthex. We will be selling grocery store gift cards for Shoprite, ACME and Stop and Shop. Cards are available in $25, $50 and $100 denominations. We will also be available during the drive through service. We purchase these gift cards for a 5% discount from the grocery stores. For every purchase you make, 5% of your gift card purchase, goes to ASLAN Youth Ministries. Over the 27 years this program has been in existence at MUMC, we have donated $49,350 to ASLAN! An amazing accomplishment! Stop by to help support this great ministry. If you would like to participate but are not attending services, email Robin Smith or contact the church office to arrange purchasing. Social distancing will be respected.
Clothing Drive

Beginning right after the New Year we will begin to collect winter hats, gloves, mittens, and socks. All of these items will be donated to the Village of Children & Families - an organization that provides help to children in foster care in Monmouth and Ocean counties. Most of these children enter their placements with only the clothes on their backs, so you can see that they are in need of these simple items. Any other clothing you might donate is greatly appreciated. Please nothing used, only new. There will be a collection box outside the front doors or you may bring them to church if you are attending worship
ReOpening Plan Reminder
Recently the Leadership Team reassessed our ReOpening Plan.
The Leadership Team has decided to recommit to our ReOpening plan and strongly reminds everyone of the following:
Sunday Morning we offer three different ways for people to join in worship: in person, the livestream, and the conference call.

For those joining worship in person, you must follow the state guidelines regarding self quarantining. Attending worship does not exempt you from self quarantining requirements if you have been traveling, tested positive for COVID19, being in proximity to someone who has tested positive, and so on. If you are planning on attending worship in person but are currently self quarantining by the state guidelines, PLEASE STAY HOME and join worship via the live stream or conference call.

For those attending worship in person, please remember, face coverings and social distancing must be maintained. There is to be no standing and talking in the hallways or sanctuary. A welcome team member will direct you to your seat and direct you when it is time to leave. Unfortunately at this time, only our worship leadership will be singing, everyone else in the sanctuary is asked to speak the words to the songs. Please save all conversations for outside while still maintaining social distancing and using your face covering.

Did you know that you can help MUMC reach people around the world by clicking "like" and "share" on our page and commenting on our posts? The more interaction we have on our page, the more people Facebook will recommend us to!
Daily Devotions
Join us Monday through Friday on the church’s Facebook page (facebook.com/mumcnj/). Pastor Derrick is going live each day with a short morning devotional before 10 am each Monday through Friday. If you miss when the video is live, no worries, you can watch the video later in the day. Just scroll through the pages news feed or click on the left side of the page ‘videos.’

 MUMC Security
In light of recent security threats to other Middletown houses of worship and attacks on other churches throughout the nation our own security team has continued to be very active, even during the COVID19 pandemic. Through the diligent work of our security team we have received a security personnel grant from the New Jersey Department of Homeland Security and Preparedness for the 2020/2021 year. This means that we will be able to have a paid security personnel at our facility for our worship celebrations and other random times to deter violence. When you attend worship face-to-face you may notice a new friendly face, our security personnel. This person is a trained, professional who is present to partner with us in providing a safe place within God's house. Please introduce yourself and welcome them. Questions, please ask any member of our church's security team.

Knit One, Prayer Too

Knit One, Prayer Too has now made and donated over 1200 items, during the pandemic, with the help of others. If you have completed items, please drop them off in the mask bin, outside the church. Going forward, the only items needed are children's hats, ages 3-8, deadline November 1.

If you do not knit or crochet, but wish to help, we need approximately 60 bars of soap, for use with the soap sacks we have made, for a local shelter. Soap must be new, unwrapped, full size bars. These may also be put in the mask bin, outside. Dollar Tree carries a 3 pack of Dial soap for $1, in case you frequent Dollar Tree, and wish to donate. Any questions, please contact Kim. Thank you!
Keyport Food Pantry
So many are experiencing great difficulties during the health emergency. The Keyport Food Pantry is really in need of food to give to those folks who are out of work and unable to feed their families. Our congregation can help. Plastic bins will be placed outside the double doors facing the DRIVEWAY where you will be able to place your donation of food. Because there are a few bins placed there…the bins for food donations will be clearly marked. The pantry is specifically asking for cereal, pasta, pasta sauce and canned vegetables. You can donate anything but they are running low on these items. You can also drop these much needed items off at a Sunday drive through. Thank you in advance…I know you will all help.
MUMC has created a fund for donations that will help anyone affected by the coronavirus. To date, we have received many generous contributions - amen and thank you!
These funds have been put to good use by providing meals to health care employees at both Riverview and Bayshore Hospitals, on a weekly basis for about two months. We have had the ability to use several of the super volunteers for the Door Step Deliveries to help facilitate this. Please let us kow if you have any suggestions You can contact Nanci Illingworth, Denise Goudsward, or any member of the Missions Team. If you have a request that you would prefer to remain confidential, please contact Pastor Derrick.
If you would like to donate to the Covid 19 Fund, you have several options: 1) you can log into REALM, and go to the Giving page. There will be a drop-down menu that offers a choice for where you would like your donation to be given. Just click on Covid 19 Fund. 2) you can mail your donation to MUMC at 924 Middletown-Lincroft Rd., Middletown, NJ 07748; or 3) send your donation electronically through your bank. Thank you all for your generosity!!!!
