What We Believe

We believe in the foundational aspects of the Christian faith.

- We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: The Trinity, God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; the Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. (1 Corinthians 8:6)

- We believe that Jesus is the author and perfector of the faith. (Hebrews 12:2)

- We believe in the physical death and Resurrection of Jesus. (Romans 8:34)

- We believe that our sins can be forgiven, not because of anything we have done, but all because of what God has done for us, God’s grace. (Romans 10:9 & Ephesians 2:8-9)

- We believe in living out our faith, not to gain favor with God, but instead that our actions are the fruit of our relationship with God. (Matthew 7:17-20 & James 2:14)

-  We believe that all persons are created in the image of God and therefore all people are people of sacred worth. (Genesis 1.27, 31)

- We believe the Bible, the 39 books of the Old Testament/Hebrew Scriptures and the 27 books of the New Testament, is God’s Word for all people. (2nd Timothy 3:16-17)

- We believe that Jesus is coming back, the Second Advent. We do not know when. We choose not to focus on the “how” of Jesus’ return but instead in helping people to be ready. (Matthew 23:43)

- We believe we can do more for God together than we can apart. As such, even though we might disagree on some aspects of the faith, we stay together for the sake of Christ’s mission given to us “to make disciples.” (John 17:20-23)

- What we believe is contained in greater detail in the Apostle’s Creed and the Articles of Religion of the United Methodist Church.
